Temporomandibular Disorder, or TMD for short, is a medical condition that affects the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which is the joint that connects your jawbone to your skull. TMD can cause pain, discomfort, and dysfunction in the jaw, face, and neck, as well as difficulty chewing, speaking, or opening and closing the mouth.
There are several factors that can contribute to TMD, including jaw injuries, arthritis, teeth grinding or clenching, stress, and misalignment of the teeth or jaw. Symptoms of TMD can vary widely, but may include pain or tenderness in the jaw, face, neck, or shoulders, clicking or popping sounds when you open or close your mouth, difficulty opening your mouth fully, or a sudden change in how your teeth fit together

Hard and soft tissues have a complex relationship. We work to make that relationship harmonious. If your jaw is misaligned, many physiological problems can result, including:
Headaches /migraines
Back, neck, and shoulder pain
Jaw pain
Worn or cracked teeth
Facial pain
Sensitive and sore teeth
Limited jaw movement
Clicking or popping in the jaw joints
TMD affects millions of people. Dr. Abedini has received special training to address TMD problems using the inclusive approach to neuromuscular dentistry. This treatment utilizes modern technology to precisely determine the proper positioning of the jaw, and to place the jaw into its optimal position, which can help relieve the symptoms associated with TMD.
If you have symptoms like those listed above, take a minute and make an appointment with our team. We’d be happy to take the time to visit with you about the benefits of neuromuscular dentistry. Call us or email us.
The establishment is clean and well decorated and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I was given options to treat my gums and not force fed a sales pitch, which is a big deal to me. They did a great job while showing that they truly care about my oral health.
My family and I have been coming here for over 5 years. I was always afraid of the dentist as a kid, but now enjoy them taking care of my teeth. I am no longer fearful.
I came here with so many dental issues!!! The previous dentist I had made my problems even worse and I thought there was no end to the pain. I went to Dr. Kenny Abedini and he worked on my mouth for 9 months to get all the work I wanted done. Two deep cleanings, a root canal, ten gold crowns fitted just right (3 lower left 3 lower right 2 top right 2 top left all in the back) so I can still smile and you cannot see the gold. The best part no more pain!!! I have TMJ so I clench and grind my teeth until I cracked my other porcelain down. So this time I wanted gold so the metal will not crack or grind down as fast, and might last the rest of my life. Now the teeth in the back feel great, and look great. I would recommend him to everyone and will be a returning customer for years to come.
The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. My hygienist was friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, and gentle. My time with the doctor was short, because I didn’t have any major issues but he seemed nice. The whole appointment felt fast but not rushed. I also appreciated that they helped me navigate my insurance. I feel comfortable and confident returning, and I’d recommend to anyone!
